ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals will have two key pieces back in the lineup against the Boston Bruins to open the 2022-23 campaign, as T.J. Oshie and Dmitry Orlov have officially been cleared to play.

Oshie and Orlov were both day-to-day dealing with upper and lower-body injuries respectively.

In the second period of the Oct. 5 preseason tilt with the Detroit Red Wings, the 35-year-old was racing for the puck along the boards in the offensive zone when he took a hard hit by Joe Veleno. He went to the boards in visible pain and was slow to get up. He skated to the bench under his own power and went down the tunnel, and missed the remainder of the preseason.

Orlov, meanwhile, tweaked something in his foot against Detroit, but finished the game. He did not play in the finale against the Columbus Blue Jackets, but was back to practicing.

Both will be in the lineup on Wednesday. Oshie will play on the third line with Marcus Johansson and Lars Eller. Orlov will be on the second-pairing alongside regular defensive partner Nick Jensen.
