Capitals Make Super Bowl Predictions, And Kuznetsov’s Takes The Cake

As the Washington Capitals hit the ice for practice on Saturday, the players were asked which team they think will hoist the Lombardi Trophy on Sunday. The Capitals will play at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday against the Ottawa Senators before Super Bowl LVI kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET between the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams.

The answers were mixed, as some bet on Joe Burrow to become the first QB ever to win a “triple crown” in football, while others bet on Aaron Donald’s Rams to take the cake. Here’s what some of them had to say, via the team’s video posted on Twitter.

“Bengals, Joe Burrow, MVP,” Nicklas Backstrom decided.

“Bengals. Joe Shiesty,” Conor Sheary agreed.

Garnet Hathaway, Ilya Samsonov, Dmitry Orlov, Connor McMichael, Nic Dowd and Justin Schultz are also on the Cincinnati train.

Tom Wilson, however, led the charge for the Rams. Nick Jensen was in quick agreement.

“I got the Rams,” he shared. “[Matthew] Stafford the gunslinger.”

“OBJ Rams,” Daniel Sprong chimed in.

Carl Hagelin, Matt Irwin, Michal Kempny and Lars Eller were also on the L.A. side of the matchup.

It was Evgeny Kuznetsov’s answer that took the cake, though, as he stared deadpan at the camera, and in a serious voice with no inflection, declared:

“Nobody.”

The 29-year-old is famous for his sense of humor and often stresses the need for those around him to smile. So, this was spot-on “Kuzy,” and he nailed it.

“I’m just not afraid to speak, you know? I always said what I’m thinking,” Kuznetsov told WHN in a 1-on-1 about his comical side. “And I believe that if people around me can handle my jokes, that means they always enjoy the life too you know? Some people may take personal. They don’t like me but that’s not my business. I want to surround myself around people that kind of see the same way as me.”
