WASHINGTON — After beating the Columbus Blue Jackets 1-0 on Sunday, the Washington Capitals and their families made their way down the block for a dinner to celebrate Alex Ovechkin passing Gordie Howe for second on the NHL's all-time goals list.

The Capitals had a team dinner at Mastro's Steakhouse on 14th Street NW in honor of their captain hitting 802 career goals. The menu featured a three-course meal, with a family appetizer of a seafood tower, followed by a main course with a salad and side and one dessert.

Choices on entrée included: Ora King Salmon, 8 oz Filet, 6oz Petit Filet an Lobster Tail, 16 oz New York Strip, Herb Roasted Chicken, Double Cut Pork Chop, 22 oz Bone-In Ribeye, Rack of Lamb and Gnocchi Pomodoro.

Ovechkin, his wife, Nastya, and children were in attendance as she posted the festivities on her social media. The entire team appeared to be present, and Nicolas Aube-Kubel was also busy hanging out with Ovechkin's son, Sergei. The two had skated together at practice the week before.

And, naturally, hockey was on as Washington watched the Chicago Blackhawks take on the Calgary Flames. Chicago won 4-3 in a thrilling OT.

Ovechkin hit the 802-goal mark on Dec. 23 against the Winnipeg Jets when he scored two goals to pass Howe en route to the win. He now sits at 809 career goals and has 29 through 43 games this season. The 37-year-old needs 86 more goals to break Wayne Gretzky's all-time NHL goals record.
