The Washington Capitals made a call-up ahead of their Tuesday tilt against the New York Rangers, bringing left winger Joe Snively up from the Hershey Bears. Snively's recall comes after Alex Ovechkin and Sonny Milano both missed Monday's practice at Madison Square Garden.

Ovechkin took a maintenance day while Milano was out with a non-COVID illness. There is no word on their availability for Tuesday's game, but head coach Peter Laviolette will have more information in his pregame availability. Both played in Saturday's 5-1 win over the New York Islanders, where the team also saw Martin Fehervary and Nick Jensen draw back into the mix after dealing with respective lower and upper-body injuries.

Through 20 games down in Hershey this season, Snively has seven goals and nine assists, and he ranks first in shooting percentage (20.6) while managing .80 points per game. He has a goal and two assists through eight games up with Washington this season.

Bears teammates Aliaksei Protas and Gabriel Carlsson also remain up with the big club. Protas is also on hand to play and has been serving as the extra forward, while Carlsson is the seventh defenseman. With Snively up, the team is at exactly 23 skaters.
