Washington Capitals forward Nicklas Backstrom has his first goal of the season and his first tally since returning from hip resurfacing surgery.

With Washington on the power play late in the first, Backstrom got the puck in front with Marcus Johansson setting a screen. The 34-year-old deceptively elected to shoot, roofing one past Ilya Samsonov to make it 1-0.

Here's the tally, which is also Backstrom's 265th career goal and 47th point in 45 career games against Toronto. Johansson and Conor Sheary got the assists

Backstrom now has points in back-to-back games and points in four of his last six overall. He has five points in nine games since making his comeback.
