The Washington Capitals will be getting their first-ever NFT collection.

The Washington Capitals will finally be a part of the NFT party. Monumental Sports & Entertainment, the ownership group of the Capitals and Washington Wizards, will launch its first-ever NFT (non-fungible token) collections for both professional sports teams.

NFTs are digital assets that exist through blockchain technology and have exclusive owners. Through unique metadata, ownership can be verified and makes operations more transparent between buyers and sellers.

Robert Generette III (Rob Zilla III), a D.C.-based award-winning illustrator, educator and “vector art monster” has been commissioned to create the Capitals’ collection. Graphic designer Lawrence Atoigue (Naturel) created the Wizards’ collection. MSE also partnered with OpenSea as their official NFT marketplace.

The “ALL CAPS All-Digital Fan Collectibles” will feature two themes and go on sale from 9 a.m. ET on July 15 to 9 p.m. ET on July 17. Fans can learn more and prepare for the NFT launch here.

ALL CAPS All-Digital Fan Collectible Themes

The team is celebrating the team’s 2018 Stanley Cup Championship. Washington’s Stanley Cup ring will be available via auction. The winner will also receive a physical replica of the ring and VIP access to a Capitals practice, a signed puck, a street pole banner from the parade and a personalized away jersey from Game 5 of the 2018 Stanley Cup Final. In addition to the ring, the Capitals will also sell 16 minted Stanley Cup banners for $499.99 each. These banners are the same as the one currently hanging in Capital One Arena. The number 16 corresponds with the number of wins it takes to hoist the Stanley Cup.

Washington will also have a “Screaming Eagle Collection” available. The Screaming Eagle logo was first introduced in 1995. Fans will be able to purchase a limited number of 95 digital Screaming Eagle exclusive jerseys, available at $100.21 each. Also, the Capitals will be auctioning a 1 of 1 minting of the “Past to Present Experience.”

Along with the NFT, the buyer will get two glass tickets to a regular-season game, watch warm-ups from the penalty box, a ride on the ice resurfacer, a personalized Screaming Eagle jersey and a meet-and-greet with a Capitals legend.
