ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals have returned forward Joe Snively to the AHL's Hershey Bears and are still awaiting an injury update on defenseman Nick Jensen.

Snively was up with the team with Alex Ovechkin nursing a lower-body injury and Sonny Milano missing two games with a non-COVID illness. He played on Tuesday against the New York Rangers but was a healthy scratch on Wednesday with Ovechkin returning from injury and Aliaksei Protas remaining in the mix.

Protas remains up with the club as the extra forward, and it's likely that Milano will be good to go on Friday with Snively heading back down.

Meanwhile, Washington is still waiting for an update on Nick Jensen, who left Wednesday's game in the third period with an apparent injury. Head coach Peter Laviolette had no update on the 32-year-old blueliner after the game.

With Snively back down to Hershey, the team sits at 22 skaters, and there is room to recall an extra skater if need be.
