WASHINGTON — Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov has returned Sunday's matinee against the San Jose Sharks after suffering an injury scare in the second period.

Kuznetsov was behind the net in the defensive zone when he took a hard hit from Logan Couture. He went hard into the boards and was holding his right arm as he skated off doubled over and went right down the tunnel.

Here was the play:

Minutes before, he scored his eighth goal of the season after crashing the net and sneaking the puck past Kaapo Kahkonen. He made contact with Kahkonen's head, and the Finnish netminder had to leave the game. Aaron Dell replaced him in net.

Kuznetsov has points in two of his last three games and was reunited with Alex Ovechkin in the second period with Washington looking for offense. He has 44 points so far this season.
