ARLINGTON, V.A. – Just as the Washington Capitals saw their full blue line back, they saw Dmitry Orlov leave the ice early.

Orlov skated off the ice and headed down to the dressing room early in practice. He appeared to be in discomfort and headed off with athletic trainer Jason Serbus.

With Orlov out, Kempny is taking his place on the second pairing with Nick Jensen. Matt Irwin, meanwhile, is playing forward with Nicklas Backstrom, Connor McMichael and T.J. Oshie out with non-COVID illnesses.
