Capitals Recall Defenseman, Send Lindgren To IR

Hardy Häman Aktell, who drew rave reviews on the Washington Capitals’ blue line throughout the preseason, has been recalled from the team’s AHL affiliate, the Capitals announced Thursday.

Häman Aktell, 25, signed with the Capitals this offseason after playing three seasons with in the SHL — Sweden’s top league. A former draft pick of the Nashville Predators, Häman Aktell blossomed while playing in his native country, making him a highly sought after prospect in free agency.

During the preseason, Häman Aktell contended for a spot on the Capitals’ blue line, and was one of the team’s final roster cuts.

Additionally, backup goalie Charlie Lindgren has been placed on injured reserve after leaving Monday’s morning skate with an undisclosed ailment. Clay Stevenson was recalled on Monday to fill the backup role.
