NASHVILLE — In the second round, the Washington Capitals selected left winger Andrew Cristall with the 40th overall pick.

“It feels unbelievable,” Cristall said. “I finally hear my name called and to be able to walk down there and put a jersey on, it’s really special. I couldn’t be happier with Washington, so I’m pretty excited.”

Cristall, ranked the No. 15 North American skater by NHL Central Scouting, tallied 95 points — 39 goals, 56 assists — in 54 games played with the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets.

I’d say I’m a highly-skilled offensive player,” Cristall said. “I can produce at a high-rate and I like to bring people out of their seats and, most importantly, win hockey games.”

In the first round, the Capitals drafted American forward Ryan Leonard.

Jared Serre covers the Washington Capitals for Washington Hockey Now. He is a graduate of West Virginia University.
