It looks like Alex Ovechkin will be back in the Screaming Eagle sweater at the 2023 NHL All-Star Weekend, as this year's All-Stars will wear their team's Reverse Retro jerseys in the Skills Competition on Friday.

Jersey expert Ali Murji confirmed the news.

Ovechkin will be competing in the Breakaway Challenge at All-Star Skills, teaming up with Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby

The 37-year-old has been a big fan of the Capitals' RR 2.0 sweaters, which are black, blue and bronze and feature the team's vintage "Screaming Eagle" on the front with the vintage Capitol building logo on the shoulders. The inside collar features "WSH" and "2005," an ode to Ovechkin's rookie year. The jerseys are a tribute to the team's 1995-2007 look and their last logo before making the full-time switch to the current red and white sweaters with the Capitals' wordmark.

Washington wore the Reverse Retro jerseys for seven games this season. In each of those games, Ovechkin scored. Three of those games were multi-goal games, and he ended with a total of 11 goals, including one hat trick, over that span. Not only that, but on Dec. 23 against the Winnipeg Jets, Ovechkin passed Gordie Howe for the second-most goals in NHL history while wearing that jersey. Ovechkin has 32 goals and 22 assists through 52 games so far this season.

For the All-Star game, which features a 3-on-3 tournament between all four divisions, players will wear Reverse Retro-inspired Eastern and Western Conference sweaters. Those jerseys pay homage to the 1994 All-Star jerseys worn by Wayne Gretzky and more legends of the game.
