Capitals Game Day
Capitals Game Day: Sheary Appears To Be In, Jensen, Carlson Out Vs. Sens
The Washington Capitals are looking to get back on the right track on Saturday against the Ottawa Senators, and they’ll have to do so without three of their top-4 defensemen.
Dmitry Orlov is serving the final game of his two-game suspension, and John Carlson and Nick Jensen were not on the ice for morning skate and will likely not suit up on Saturday. Carlson is still on COVID-19 protocol, and Jensen is dealing with an upper-body injury he suffered on Thursday.
With a lot of their regulars out, the defense saw quite a shake-up with all hands on deck with regard to the blue line.
Still, there was a bright spot on the forward lines, as Washington saw Conor Sheary return to the mix. The 29-year-old skated at Friday’s optional and appears to be ready to come back after a week on COVID-19 protocol.

Carl Hagelin will also hit a milestone, as he will play in career game No. 700 vs. Ottawa.
Meanwhile, Daniel Sprong will be a healthy scratch for the second straight game.
Here were the lines at the Capitals morning skate:
Alex Ovechkin-Evgeny Kuznetsov-Garnet Hathaway
Aliaksei Protas-Nicklas Backstrom-Tom Wilson
Connor McMichael-Lars Eller-Conor Sheary
Carl Hagelin-Nic Dowd-Brett Leason
Martin Fehervary-Justin Schultz
Michal Kempny-Trevor van Riemsdyk
Dennis Cholowski-Matt Irwin
All three Capitals goalies were on the ice for the skate.
