GOTTA SEE IT: Nicolas Aube-Kubel Levels Evander Kane In Capitals Debut
WASHINGTON — Washington Capitals forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel introduced himself — and perhaps already endeared himself to fans — early in his debut, as he rocked Evander Kane on one of his first shifts.
The 26-year-old, who was picked up off waivers on Sunday, leveled Kane, sending him to the ice in the Capitals’ tilt Monday tilt with the Edmonton Oilers.
Garnet Hathaway had a similar play last season, crushing Kane and sending him into Washington’s bench. The Capitals didn’t take too kindly to him.

Aube-Kubel had 21 hits during his six-game tenure with Toronto. He said that he hopes to make an impact and play a bigger role in D.C. following limited ice time and healthy scratches with the Maple Leafs.
โI get a second chance, and Iโm all out for it. I did that last year, and I had the best year of my career in Colorado. Iโm just hoping to do the same thing here this year,โ Aube-Kubel said, adding, โFor me, Iโm ready to fit in early and have an impact and play well. I havenโt played much in my time in Toronto, so just to have ice time and play well is my priority here.โ
