WASHINGTON, D.C. — Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson has been making major strides this season and, for the first time in his career, has 50 points in a season.

Late in the second period of Sunday’s game against Boston, the 28-year-old drove hard to the net and stuffed Lars Eller’s rebound in front past Linus Ullmark. Wilson’s 23rd goal of the season evened the score at 2. Here’s the strike:

The forward now has points in seven of his last nine outings and goals in back-to-back games. Wilson has also hit career highs in goals (23), assists (27) and points (50) this season, and was also an All-Star.

“He’s the engine on the car,” head coach Peter Laviolette said of No. 43 earlier in the season.

Look for “Tom Wilson” to be trending again on Twitter as he continues to come in clutch for D.C. this season.
