The Washington Capitals saw a good sign with regard to forward T.J. Oshie, who got some work in on the ice before the team’s optional skate on Wednesday.

Oshie hit the ice for a little bit of individual work before the team kicked off an optional practice at 12 p.m. He skated around a bit before heading back to the dressing room, and he did not return for the remainder of the optional skate.

Oshie suffered an upper-body injury after just 1:46 minutes and two shifts against the New York Islanders on Saturday and has missed the last two games.

The 2021-22 campaign has not gone according to plan by any means for No. 77. He has been limited to just 18 games amid injuries, COVID-19 and a nasty bout with the flu. Still, he has made his impact known with 13 points and plenty of offense when he is in the lineup.

Among those at the optional skate included Connor McMichael, Axel Jonsson-Fjallby, Martin Fehervary, Dmitry Orlov and more.
