The NHL is bringing back the Reverse Retro jerseys for the 2022-23 campaign, and the Washington Capitals Reverse Retro 2.0 may have been leaked on Twitter on Friday.

Ali Murji, who has been on top of several jersey releases and also released the San Jose Sharks‘ new home/road sweaters for this season, posted a prediction of what the Capitals Reverse Retro 2.0 sweater will look like. Washington Hockey Now can’t verify, but it looks like it’ll bring back the screaming eagle, but with the black/copper/blue color scheme.

Here’s a mockup:

This jersey also features the Capital building logo on both shoulders.

Washington’s Reverse Retros in 2020-21 featured the screaming eagle, but was red, white and blue and primarily red. This will bring back the team’s color scheme from 1995-2007, which came after the original vintage red, white and blue jerseys and before the current sweaters that debuted in 2007 with the Reebok rebrand. These are also similar to the jerseys that Alex Ovechkin started his career with.

Still, it’s unclear if this is going to be the actual sweater. However, there have been rumblings about the jersey being black, and Murji has also predicted several sweaters.

This season, the Capitals will be wearing five different jerseys: the Reverse Retros, the Stadium Series jersey, the “W” third jerseys and the regular home and road sweaters. Lars Eller said earlier this season that is looking forward to the new design and likes to break in the new gear that comes with the new uniforms.
