Report: Capitals Bringing Back ‘Screaming Eagle’ Logo For 2022-23
The Washington Capitals will reportedly see the “screaming eagle” logo return next season.
Per Sportslogo.net’s Chris Creamer, the team will be sporting the “screaming eagle” logo on their Reverse Retro jerseys for the 2022-23 campaign. TSN then reposted the report.
Creamer cited graphic designer Lucas Daitchman, who correctly verified Washington’s 2020-21 Reverse Retro sweater and their blue alternate “W” uniform in the past. He made a mockup of the jersey based on what one of his team sources revealed — And it’s a beaut.
I’ve confirmed with my #ALLCAPS source that Washington will be releasing a black screaming eagle jersey for next year’s Reverse Retro program!
You can get an idea of the level of accuracy of my mockup below: the overall concept should be solid but some details may diverge. pic.twitter.com/3pJnTiqBis

The Capitals’ debuted the “Screaming Eagle” back in 1995 and retired in 2007, along with their black, copper, blue and white color schedule. Washington then brought back the logo for the 2020-21 Reverse Retro jerseys, which were red, white and blue. This jersey would stick to the original color scheme from 30 years back.
There was no Reverse Retro program for the 2021-22 campaign, but it is apparently returning next season league-wide.
