Following an 8-3 blowout win over the San Jose Sharks, the Washington Capitals made a couple more call-ups to ensure some depth across the board, bringing up Aliaksei Protas and Dylan McIlrath from the AHL's Hershey Bears.

Both had been re-assigned on trade deadline day.

Right now, Washington has 12 forwards and six defensemen on hand following a sell-off ahead of the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline and injuries to Martin Fehervary and Nick Jensen. With Protas and McIlrath up, the team has an extra forward and extra defenseman available and healthy.

Through 43 games up with the Capitals this season, Protas has three goals and seven assists, and he has five points in eight games down with Hershey this year.

McIlrath has played in six games for Washington and has one assist and a +/- of minus-6. The 30-year-old has spent the majority of the season with the Bears, where he wears the "C,' and through 44 games, he has 10 assists and 83 penalty minutes.
