Capitals Defensemen Jensen, Irwin Welcome Baby Boy, Girl On Same Day
The Washington Capitals welcomed two new members of the organization as defensemen Nick Jensen and Matt Irwin saw their wives give birth on the same day.
On Monday, Jensen and his wife welcomed a baby boy, Leon Theodore Jensen, and Irwin and his wife welcomed a baby girl, Lennon Elizabeth Irwin. Both are healthy, and the families are doing great. It was an off day for the Capitals, so Jensen and Irwin were both able to make it.

The next day, both suited up for a big 9-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. Irwin scored his first goal in 98 games and first since Dec. 6, 2018, and he also picked up an assist for a multi-point outing. Jensen also had a strong showing and was a plus-3 through 19:50 minutes.
“Pretty big 24 to 30 hours,” head coach Peter Laviolette said, adding, “Two new babies in the family. And everybody’s doing great, so that’s awesome.”
