Capitals’ Dowd, Shepard Out With Injuries

Nic Dowd and Hunter Shepard are day-to-day with injuries.

WASHINGTON — The Washington Capitals are dealing with more injuries, as Nic Dowd and Hunter Shepard will miss Saturday’s game against the Toro to Maple Leafs with injuries.

Dowd has an lower-body injury, while Shepard has an upper-body injury.

With Dowd out, Nicolas Aube-Kubel appears set to draw in against his former team.

In wake of Shepard’s injury, Washington recalled Zach Fucale from the AHL's Hershey Bears. He will back up Charlie Lindgren, who will make his seventh straight start. Fucale played less than 24 hours ago for Hershey.

The Bears signed Padraig Carey to a professional tryout to back up Clay Stevenson for their game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
