ARLINGTON, V.A. — As the Washington Capitals look to bounce back against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday, they will be without captain Alex Ovechkin as he attends to family matters and the health of a loved one.

With Ovechkin out, Anthony Mantha will draw back in after missing Sunday's game against the San Jose Sharks with illness. Joe Snively has also been recalled from the Hershey Bears to serve as the extra forward and will be a healthy scratch, while Aliaksei Protas will remain in the mix.

Here are the lines from morning skate:

Aliaksei Protas-Dylan Strome-T.J. Oshie

Anthony Mantha-Evgeny Kuznetsov-Conor Sheary

Sonny Milano-Nicklas Backstrom-Marcus Johansson

Nicolas Aube-Kubel-Lars Eller-Garnet Hathaway

Erik Gustafsson-Trevor van Riemsdyk

Dmitry Orlov-Nick Jensen

Matt Irwin-Martin Fehervary

Darcy Kuemper will start against the Hurricanes.

On the power play, Ovechkin's office will be occupied by Evgeny Kuznetsov on the first unit and Trevor van Riemsdyk on the second unit.

Meanwhile, Tom Wilson took part in the morning skate but was testing things out and will not play while continuing to recover from a lower-body injury he suffered on Jan. 24. This will be the sixth game that he has missed.
