A new era of Washington Hockey Now is upon us, and I am extremely excited to be a part of it.

Who am I? My name is Jared Serre (@jaredserre), and I’m new to the Washington sports media scene. I’ve spent most of my reporting career in the college ranks, covering the West Virginia Mountaineers football and basketball programs for outlets like West Virginia Sports Now and Rivals.com before relocating to the DMV.

I’ve spent the past year outside of sports writing, and I couldn’t be more ecstatic to be back.

As of this week, I am officially the lead reporter covering the Washington Capitals for Washington Hockey Now. It’s my first foray into reporting on hockey, but I couldn’t be more ecstatic to document such an exciting team with a die-hard fanbase.

The National Hockey Now team is already behind me 100%.

I’m hoping to bring you the most up-to-date coverage as the team looks to climb back up the Metropolitan Division. I’m eager to update you with the latest action, roster moves, and strong analysis, with some intriguing features sprinkled in.

I’ll strive to take you, the reader, deeper than you’ve ever been — into the locker room, into practice and more — to bring you closer to the players and team that you love. And as my new boss Dan Kingerski said in an update earlier this spring, “Maybe, just maybe, we’ll enjoy a Capitals playoff run together.”

Here’s hoping that sooner rather than later, I’ll be able to bring you that coverage, too.

Until then,

Thanks for reading!
