Washington Capitals Connor McMichael

After the Washington Capitals win over the Detroit Red Wings on Friday, the Washington Capitals will be back in action for the second game of a back-to-back against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

It’ll be a different lineup, with more regulars like Connor McMichael and prospects like Garrett Pilon slotting in and the likes of Alex Ovechkin, Darcy Kuemper and more regulars drawing out.

Here is the roster for Saturday’s tilt, with the puck dropping at 7 p.m. ET:

Forwards: Henrik Borgstrom, Garnet Hathaway, Nic Dowd, Connor Brown, Hendrix Lapierre, Anthony Mantha, Garrett Pilon, Beck Malenstyn, Brett Leason, Aliaksei Protas, Conor Sheary, Marcus Johansson

Defensemen: Dmitry Orlov, Gabriel Carlsson, Dylan McIlrath, Vincent Iorio, Matt Irwin, Erik Gustafsson, Trevor van Riemsdyk

Goaltenders: Zach Fucale, Charlie Lindgren

Lindgren was a perfect 10-for-10 against Detroit and has stopped all 23 shots against through two games this preseason. It is not clear whether he will start on Saturday or if Fucale will get the nod.

A couple names to keep an eye on:

Aliaksei Protas is listed on the roster again and could play in his fourth straight preseason game. The 6-6, 235-pound forward has been stellar so far, using his size to his advantage, showing more speed and strength and impressing on the forecheck.

Also watch out for Connor Brown, who had a goal and assist in his Capitals debut in Wednesday’s preseason win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Erik Gustafsson, who got time on the PP and showed puck-moving prowess in his Washington debut, could also draw back in and impress in his second appearance.

Saturday’s game will be streamed on nhl.com/capitals and nhl.com/bluejackets. Fans can also listen on Caps Radio 24/7.
