ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals have loaned forward Aliaksei Protas to the Hershey Bears as the team begins its All-Star Break.

Hershey plays on Wednesday and then has back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday. It gives Protas the chance to play a few games with the Capitals not playing again until Feb. 11.

Protas has been up with the Capitals since Nic Dowd went down with a lower-body injury on Jan. 16. He has also helped with Tom Wilson also going down with another lower-body injury on Jan. 24 against the Colorado Avalanche. With the 10-day break, Washington is hoping that their injured names will have more time to recover and get back up to speed.

Through 42 NHL games this season, Protas has three goals and seven assists. In five AHL games this year, the 6-6 forward has three assists.
