WASHINGTON — The Washington Capitals will be without another forward on Tuesday, as Aliaksei Protas will miss the game against the Carolina Hurricanes with he and his wife expecting their first child.

Protas was set to play on a line with Strome and Oshie.

Joe Snively, who came up from the AHL's Hershey Bears earlier with Alex Ovechkin away from the team due to a family matter, is expected to play in his place. He is the only extra forward currently available.

Protas was brought back up to the big club following the All-Star Break with Nic Dowd and Tom Wilson still nursing lower-body injuries. Both are on the injured reserve.
