The Washington Capitals saw an interesting pre-game trade take place on Wednesday, as captain Alex Ovechkin acquired a Twix in exchange for a warm-up puck.

No salary was retained, and the deal is 1-for-1.

As Washington and San Jose hit the ice for the pre-game skate, a young fan held up a sign asking Ovechkin for a puck in exchange for a candy bar. It caught the Great 8’s attention, and he skated over and delivered, tossing a puck over the glass. Then, he got exactly what he was promised: a Twix. The Capitals captain then handed it to the staff on the bench.

The Russian is a known sweet tooth and revealed in 2020 that he still plays Candy Crush Saga on his phone. He was also on Canada’s Mr. Big candy bar back in the 2010s.

Ovechkin is having one of the best seasons of his 17-year career and has dished 29 goals and 58 points in 42 outings this season. He ranks second in the league in both goals and points and is on pace to hit the 100-point mark.

It was a bright moment in a tough night for Washington, who fell 4-1 to San Jose. The Capitals have lost eight of their last 11 games.
