The Washington Capitals will be missing two big names in their key divisional matchup against the New York Rangers, as Alex Ovechkin and Sonny Milano will both be out.

Ovechkin is dealing with a lower-body injury, while Milano will has a non-COVID illness.

Neither Ovechkin nor Milano skated on Monday, as Ovechkin took a maintenance day while Milano wasn't at the rink.

Ovechkin dealt with a lower-body injury and missed one game in late January, but it's unclear if this is the same issue. He recently missed four games following the death of his father, Mikhail.

Not having Ovechkin against New York would be a big loss for Washington, who is in the throes of their final playoff push and sits five points out of a Wild Card spot entering Tuesday's key divisional matchup at Madison Square Garden. Ovechkin has three goals and has put up points in three of his last four outings. Meanwhile, Milano will be missed as well, as his line has been one of the best trios of late while Milano has points in three of his last four.

Joe Snively and Aliaksei Protas will suit up in their place.
