The Washington Capitals will get their captain back as they close out their three-game road swing, as Alex Ovechkin is in against the Colorado Avalanche.

Ovechkin had been day-to-day with a lower-body injury and missed his first game of the season back on Saturday against the Vegas Golden Knights, where Washington fell 6-2.

Through 48 games this season, the 37-year-old has 30 goals and 22 assists.

Ovechkin’s return is a huge sigh of relief for the Capitals, who are missing T.J. Oshie after he left the road trip early to be with his wife, Lauren, for the birth of his fourth child. Nicklas Backstrom is also out with a non-COVID illness.

Aliaksei Protas and Anthony Mantha will be in as well with Oshie and Backstrom out and Nic Dowd on the IR.
