WASHINGTON — Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin was all smiles after his four-point performance helped the team to a 6-4 victory over the Vancouver Canucks, and he had also had some jokes at his disposal.

When asked about the first goal on Darcy Kuemper that saw the puck bounce over his stick and go straight to Elias Pettersson for an empty-netter late in the first, Ovechkin grinned.

“Welcome to Capital One,” the 37-year-old joked. “Boards and ice is probably top in the league.”

Capital One Arena has been known for quite a few strange plays and bounces, as well we sometimes rough ice to play on. The Capitals share the arena with the Washington Wizards, Georgetown Hoyas, Washington Mystics and artists who come to perform at the arena.

The Great 8 dished two goals and two assists to lead Washington to the win.
