The Washington Capitals saw Alex Ovechkin make NHL history once again on Wednesday, as he netted a hat trick for his 800th career NHL goal in a 7-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday.

Following the historic performance, his teammates and more around the hockey world took to social media to recognize the milestone.

Dylan Strome posted on Twitter to pay tribute to his captain and also wrote a special message on Instagram.

"Holy shit the great 800!!!!!!!! Legend," Strome wrote with a goat emoji (representative of the Greatest Of All Time) in his Instagram story.

Even Teemu Selanne, the all-time leading Finnish scorer, took to Twitter to call Ovechkin the greatest goal scorer in NHL history.

"800 goals… Congrats Ovi. Incredible achievement. Best goal scorer ever," he wrote.

Longtime friend and teammate Nicklas Backstrom, who has assisted on 278 of Ovechkin's 800 goals (fourth all-time on a single teammate's goals), also shouted out Ovechkin on social media and used the "Gr800" hashtag.

"Big congrats to Ovi for reaching 800 goals. What a milestone!" he wrote. "So proud of you friend. #GR800."

John Carlson and Anthony Mantha, who got the primary assist on Ovechkin's goal, also posted on Instagram to congratulate No. 8.

Former teammate Eric Fehr also wasn't surprised to see Ovechkin net a hat trick to capture 800, and echoed that thought on social media.

And in addition to his teammates and other legends, the Chicago Blackhawks even congratulated him, as Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews came to shake Ovechkin's hand after he accomplished the feat at United Center on Tuesday with the home crowd cheering him on.
