Alexeyev Leaves Capitals-Kraken After Taking Nasty Elbow To The Head
WASHINGTON — Washington Capitals defenseman Alex Alexeyev has exited Friday’s tilt with the Seattle Kraken with an upper-body injury.
Alexeyev was skating in the offensive zone when he took an elbow to the head from Jamie Oleksiak. The Russian stayed down and was bleeding from the face, and after trainers attended to him and helped him off, he went down the tunnel.
Upon review, Jamie Oleksiak assessed a match penalty for this hit on Alexander Alexeyev.
You can talk about intent or Oleksiak's height, but bottom line is this kind of hit can't be in the game. Major is the correct call. pic.twitter.com/zNeR4XX1pt

Oleksiak was assessed a match penalty for an illegal check to the head. Washington got a five-minute power play. Alexeyev will not return to Fridayโs game and is listed as having an upper-body injury.
Meanwhile, the Capitals are already missing two other defensemen in Martin Fehervary (upper-body injury) and Dmitry Orlov (lower-body injury).
