J.T. Miller’s Harsh Response To Fans Throwing Canucks Jerseys On Ice

J.T. Miller and the Vancouver Canucks have not been off to a good start by any means, going 0-4-2 to open the 2022-23 campaign. And in turn, the fans have not been kind to the franchise.

On Saturday, the Canucks fell to the Buffalo Sabres 5-1 in a disappointing home opener. As the team had another rough showing at their own rink, fans threw their jerseys to the ice and booed Vancouver and former Washington Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau as they dropped their sixth straight game.

When it comes to the players’ thoughts on the fan’s reaction, Miller didn’t have much to say, but it wasn’t kind.

“If they want to throw their shit on the ice, it’s up to them,” he told reporters on Monday, via Sportsnet’s Brendan Batchelor, adding, “I’m not worried about if people want to come to the game, pay all that money and throw their jerseys on the ice. Go ahead. I’ve got a job to do. I’m worried about beating the [Carolina Hurricanes] tonight and having a good start to the game and us really trying to come together as a team.”

Miller leads all Vancouver skaters in goals against, as the Canucks have been scored on 14 times so far when he’s been on the ice. The 29-year-old has two goals and an assist through six games and is a minus-6 to open the campaign after dishing 99 points last season.

Despite multiple trade rumors over the course of the offseason, Miller re-signed a seven-year, $56 million contract with Vancouver in September.
