It was announced earlier Monday that Monumental Sports & Entertainment has partnered with the popular video-sharing app TikTok for multiple years. The two sides are linked until the end of the 2026-27 campaign. As a result, they will be one of the Washington Capitals’ official partners. According to the Capitals website, the agreement between the two organizations includes the TikTok logo as a patch on the Capitals’ road jerseys and entitlement for the 50th Anniversary Celebration. TikTok will also have elements related specifically to the Capitals, as well as other MSE teams in the Washington Wizards (NBA), Washington Mystics (WNBA), Capital City Go-Go (NBA G-League), and Wizards District Gaming (NBA2K).

TikTok with the Capitals’ 50th Anniversary Celebration and Away Jersey Patch

The Washington Capitals’ 50th Anniversary Celebration will be presented by TikTok. Initiatives and event tents will be set up to celebrate a half-century of Capitals hockey.

One of the main highlights of the TikTok partnership is that the company’s logo will be a patch on the Washington Capitals’ away jerseys. The first game with the new patch will be against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on September 24. Before this partnership with TikTok, Washington had never had a sponsorship for their away jerseys. They started a partnership in 2021 with Caesars Sportsbook, in which the Capitals wore their patch for their home and third jerseys.

The Washington Capitals are the eighth most-followed team in the NHL on the TikTok platform. They have over 387,700 followers at this point in time. The franchise was one of the first teams to join the video-sharing platform.

Capitals Road Games and Impact of the TikTok Partnership

Additionally, starting in 2024-25, another part of the TikTok partnership with the Capitals includes being the presenting partner for all of the road games that will be on MSE’s Monumental Sports Network. The company will also present for the Capitals Road to Success that is part of the Capitals Radio Network.

Partnering with TikTok was a great idea by Ted Leonsis and MSE. It is one of the most popular apps in the world, and the organization can use the platform as ways to provide better promotion of their team. The Capitals can advertise anything upcoming for the fans like special promotional nights. They can connect better with their fanbase through their TikTok partnership. This will especially be beneficial for the team with their younger fans.

I think this partnership will be huge for the following of the Capitals. They will also probably get much more followers on the platform, especially with exclusive content and ways to interact with the fans during games. Fans will see starting this season how well the partnership works out.
