Former Washington Capitals forward and NHL legend Jaromir Jagr told Alex Ovechkin last season that he should watch out, because he could return to pro hockey and start chasing his all-time goals record again. And though he didn’t return to the Show, he’s back playing pro hockey at age 50 in his native Czechia.

The Kladno Knights owner saw an illness break out through the locker room of his Czech Extraliga team, and with a shortage of players, Jagr took matters into his own hands and entered the lineup for his season debut — and he’s still got it.

Jagr picked up two assists and skated 15:10 minutes in a 7-3 loss to Liberec, and he played with speed and showcased his great vision and stickhandling as he set up two of the Knights three goals. He wore his classic No. 68.

Since leaving the NHL following the 2017-18 campaign with the Calgary Flames, Jagr has played the last six seasons in the Czech-1 and Czech-2 leagues. In 43 games last season, he had eight goals and 11 assists.

Because he played this season, he is now ineligible to be inducted into the Hockey Hall Of Fame until 2026. Over his 24-year NHL career, he had 766 goals and 1,921 points in 1,733 games. He also won the Art Ross five times and until Ovechkin passed him back in March, was the highest-scoring European in the history of the Show.
