The Capitals are dressing a prospect-heavy lineup vs. New Jersey.

Michael Sgarbossa, the Hershey Bears’ points leader this season, has agreed to a contract extension with the Washington Capitals organization, team general manager Brian MacLellan announced Monday.

It is a two-year, two-way contract, according to a press release.

Sgarbossa, 30, led the AHL affiliate with 58 points across 60 regular season games in 2022-23.  His 37 assists led the Bears, while his 21 goals ranked third.

Sgarbossa played in 10 games with the Capitals this season, tallying two goals and two assists.

A 6-foot, 187-pound center, Sgarbossa has been with the Capitals organization since the 2019-20 season.

The Bears will begin the Atlantic Division Finals playoff series with the Hartford Wolf Pack on Thursday.
