The Washington Capitals had a special surprise for their fans on Alex Ovechkin’s birthday (Happy Birthday to the Great Eight). The team unveiled their black Screaming Eagle jersey that incorporates the franchise’s first-ever third jersey, as well as the original rebrand. The colors used for the sweater are blue, black, and bronze. Additionally, the shoulder patches are the logo of the Capitol building in front of two crossing hockey sticks and a puck, along with two stars.

The team posted a video on Twitter/X of Alex Ovechkin opening up a gift box to reveal the Screaming Eagle jersey inside. The video can be watched here.

Also, the Capitals noted where fans can go get these jerseys. They said, “The jerseys will be available online at NHLShop.com, NHLShop.ca and shop.monumentalsportsnetwork.com, the MedStar Capitals Iceplex store, and the Capital One Arena Team Store beginning Thursday, Oct. 10. Next, the Capitals will hold training camp, starting with Media Day on Thursday, September 19. The team plays in their first preseason game on Sunday, September 22 at 3:00 P.M. against the Philadelphia Flyers.
