The Washington Capitals close out a three-game road swing with a showdown against the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday, and they hope they'll have captain Alex Ovechkin in the mix when the puck drops.

Head coach Peter Laviolette said that Ovechkin will be a game-time decision against the Avalanche.

Ovechkin, who is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, was the first player on the ice for the Capitals' optional morning skate in Denver. He also practiced on Monday and, per head coach Peter Laviolette, was moving well as he continues to work through the ailment that held him out of the lineup on Saturday against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Saturday's 6-2 loss in Vegas was the only game Ovechkin has missed this season. In 48 games so far in 2022-23, he has 30 goals and 22 assists for 52 points.
